Art is personal. Whether it’s a canvas painting a framed print or a sculpture it deserves to be moved with care. As a moving company experienced in transporting fine art we understand the risks and how to manage them.

Start by checking each piece. Is it behind glass? Is the surface fragile or exposed? For framed artwork use painter’s tape to make an X across the glass. This helps prevent shattering. Then wrap the frame in bubble wrap and add a layer of cardboard for structure.

For canvas pieces without glass don’t put bubble wrap directly on the surface— it can leave marks. Instead cover the front with acid-free paper first then wrap it in plastic or soft cloth before placing it in a box.

Use mirror or picture boxes if possible. These are adjustable and provide a snug fit. Fill any gaps with foam or crumpled paper to keep the artwork from shifting. For oversized or high-value items custom crating is worth considering.

Label each box clearly. Mark “fragile” and “this side up” and list what’s inside. Always keep art pieces upright. Don’t stack them.

For sculptures or 3D items wrap them in foam or padded blankets. Use doublewalled boxes and cushion all sides. If the piece is especially heavy or oddly shaped custom crating is often the safest option.

Keep artwork away from direct sunlight humidity and temperature extremes. If the piece is sensitive to environmental conditions ask about climate-controlled transport options.

We take moving art seriously. Our team is trained to handle these items with the care they deserve so they arrive safely and in perfect condition.

Let’s protect what matters.
